The role of the Audit Team is to co-ordinate and commission a programme of audits measuring the contractual
compliance of Health services that are funded by the South Island District
Health Boards.
The aim of the audit programme is to provide District Health Boards with a
reliable and robust audit function, that assists in the monitoring of services,
which are both provided and funded by the District Health Boards.
The focus of the audit programme is determined by each individual District
Health Board’s priorities.
The scope of the audit programme includes aged care services, mental health and
personal health services.
The audit
team also provides training for prospective Health Auditors in an annual
week-long training course. It provides training in the core aspects of
auditing for contractual compliance. Those who complete the training
successfully can be offered contract work as audit team members. Those
interested in the auditor training should contact the Audit Manager.
The audit
team is also co-ordinating a project to provide a centralised complaints
management service for those who hold concerns about the quality of aged
care services.
